Discover how herbal medicine works on a holistic level, strengthening the body from the inside out — not masking symptoms, but providing an effective, safer, and more sustainable approach to healing.

If you’re like many of us, you probably have a cabinet full of medicines for everything under the sun. Pharmaceutical companies produce everything — from Pepcid to Prilosec and Benadryl to Bengay — which they say will cure what ails us.

But do you ever stop and wonder about alternatives that may be safer, more effective, and far less expensive than what we’re buying over the counter?

If you prefer a holistic form of healing that allows you to take control of your health — with prevention and the treatment of symptoms in mind — then look no further than plants in the great outdoors.

We’re so focused on our busy lives these days that we’ve forgotten how to care for ourselves, prevent illness, and treat simple ailments when they occur. By taking our healthcare back into our own hands, we can remember that our support system lives within the Earth and can aid us in attaining optimal health.

If you’re somewhat dubious about whether plants can hold their own against store-bought medications, consider that modern medicine wouldn’t be where it is today without herbs and flora.

Hippocrates, who practiced medicine in Greece 2,500 years ago, used willow plant leaves to treat minor aches and pains. It wasn’t discovered until the early 1800s why the leaves worked at relieving discomfort — aspirin was its primary active ingredient.

Another well-known instance had doctors in the 1600s using the cinchona tree to treat malaria. Only later did we learn that the bark contained quinine, which did a great job killing the parasites that cause this mosquito-borne infectious disease.

In this innovative free online event, David Crow, one of the world’s leading experts in botanical medicine and grassroots healthcare, will explore highly effective plant medicine formulas and how they serve different functions when they are consumed.

He’ll share his knowledge about how certain plant preparations promote healing through their mineral and vitamin content. Some herbs can be used to cleanse your body and increase your energy, while others help filter and eliminate the many toxins we absorb or ingest as part of daily life.

David will discuss how pharmaceuticals today are largely prescribed to mask symptoms without getting to the root cause of the illness. That’s alarming because not only can the synthetic nature of drugs create toxicity within the body, such drugs can become ineffective and cause other health-related issues after long-term use.

Plants, on the other hand, contain many of the same compounds we have in our bodies, which enables cellular recognition and the ability to break down compounds. With proper medical supervision, many people can confidently turn to plant medicine to free themselves from prescription medications and their long-term side effects.

Our lives are difficult enough as is, and the stress we’re under can contribute to chronic conditions ranging from digestive problems and a weakened immune system to problems caused by inflammation. To make matters worse, when we seek an alternative solution, we’re bombarded with a multitude of choices — we practically need a degree in chemistry to understand all the ingredients, properties, and how the medications work and interact with other remedies.

David will show you several reputable store-bought herbal medicines — what’s in their formulas and how they aid different ailments ranging from digestion problems to stress. After his demonstration, you’ll be able to confidently walk into any pharmacy, natural product store, or health food store, and buy a high-quality botanical formulated that works best for you.

In this fascinating hour with David, you’ll discover:

  • Some of the most important formulas found in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic, and Western plant medicine traditions — some dating back over a thousand years — that do everything from build up your immune system to support your liver and kidney function
  • How to use readily available herbs and spices to create 3 formulas, following important principles of herbal compounding, for common digestive problems
  • How to create formulas at home using blend infusions, decoctions, tinctures, powders, and essential oils
  • Three ancient formulas from Traditional Chinese Medicine for treating the physical consequences from different forms of stress
  • A classical Ayurvedic formula for rejuvenation — and how to know if it’s appropriate for your constitution
  • How to demystify the formulas of plant medicines sold in stores

David Crow, LAc, is a world-renowned clinician, researcher, and educator with over 30 years of experience in plant medicine. He has extensively traveled the world in the study of traditional medicinal systems and is the author of four books, including In Search of the Medicine Buddha. In this time with David, you’ll see how plant medicine can help you be proactive in how you care for yourself so you can remain healthy in the years to come.

At the end of this workshop, David will share details about his new 7-week course, where you can more deeply explore classical formulas from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Western medicine. For a variety of chronic health issues or to ward off preventive illnesses, you’ll learn about the physiological actions that a formula produces, and when and how to use it most effectively. And you’ll discover different tinctures, herbal syrups, essential oils, and a wide range of products that can be used topically to greatly enhance your practice of self-care for a long, well-lived life.
