New 9-Module Video Training With Live Q&A Starts

Shift from coping to healing, balance, and resilience by harnessing the power of Reiki practice as part of your daily self-care to help ease pain, illness, trauma, anxiety, and other chronic conditions.

Feel better, function better, and make better choices.

If you’re like most, your self-care regimen consists of a lot of daily steps and practices — each with their own specific, unique goal.

But what if the most effective self-care that you could ever do for yourself required a single practice, one that increases your resilience across the board?

What if restoring balance to your body and life is just a matter of learning how to soften your mind and get out of the way of your body’s innate intelligence and capacity for healing?

Your body knows very well how to heal itself. Yet, too often, the mind creates obstacles that keep the body from doing its job effectively.

As a restorative spiritual practice, Reiki is so much more than an energy healing technique! This light-touch, self-care Reiki practice enhances your body’s natural homeostasis, builds resilience, and helps you access your innate wholeness — your sense of inner spaciousness — by calming your nervous system and restoring balance to all levels of your being.

In fact, Reiki practice is easier than meditation (with many of the same benefits!), and is one of the best ways to rapidly feel better. Reiki master Pamela Miles teaches how daily Reiki self-practice, imbued by spirituality and supported by medical science, ensures that you’ll never be more than 24 hours away from whole-being balance.

During this empowering, thought-provoking course with Pamela, you’ll learn how to work with the paradigm of balance that underpins your health and wellbeing — and how to harness the power of a regular Reiki practice to maintain balance amidst all the changes and uncertainties of life.

As a pioneer who brought Reiki practice to conventional medicine in the 90s, Pamela combines Reiki as taught by Hawayo Takata — the first generation Japanese American woman who brought Reiki practice to the U.S. from Japan in the late 1930s — with the insights she’s gained from 50 years of spiritual practice...

... and from 30 years of medical collaboration as the original Medical Reiki master with academic medical centers, including Harvard, Yale, and the NIH (National Institutes of Health).

During your time with Pamela, you’ll learn a unique perspective on Reiki that promises to deepen and reinvigorate your self-care practice. Pamela will clear up Western misperceptions that tend to overemphasize “techniques” and specific hand placement, and show you how Reiki practice is easily learned and practiced almost anywhere, even in the busiest of schedules.

At the core of her teachings is that Reiki is an accessible self-healing tool for anyone — regardless of your current state of health — and that you don’t need multiple certifications or to be an expert in order to practice informally and effectively on family, friends, and even pets and experience its healing benefits.

Pamela will share the neuroscience that reveals the physiologic response to Reiki practice, the safety and cumulative effectiveness of Reiki practice in trauma recovery, including surgery, injury, or cardiac events...

... and why improvements in pain and anxiety following Reiki treatment are the most documented benefits, including pain associated with cancer and necessary cancer treatment.

You’ll explore the roots of Reiki practice in Japan in the 1920s, trace its development, and learn how to carry the spiritual practice of Reiki forward so it’s available to future generations.

You’ll learn how Reiki differs from energy medicine, what the different levels of Reiki practice are, and how to choose the right practice for the right moment — whether an abbreviated protocol, full-protocol practice, or spot practice.

During this 9-module training on self-care Reiki practice, you’ll:

  • Discover the safety and effectiveness of Reiki practice in trauma recovery, including after surgery, injury, or cardiac events
  • Explore what it really means to be Reiki certified and the limits of its relevance for self-practice
  • Implement ways to maintain your daily practice rhythm on days when you don’t have the time for a full 8-placement protocol
  • Discern the distinctions among the three traditional levels of Reiki practice: First Degree, Second Degree, and Reiki Master
  • Establish how to set up a Reiki session for others so both of you feel comfortable
  • Experience how Reiki practice helps you stop putting things off — and expands your capacity and motivation to get stuff done
  • Realize why Reiki practice is one of the best first steps in quickly improving your state of being, with easy access to feeling better — no matter your health condition
  • Understand the basic neuroscience related to the physiological response to Reiki practice
  • Determine how to identify the sympathetic nervous system response in your body so you can restore balance sooner and faster
  • Recognize Reiki as a spiritual practice and how daily self-practice protects you, ensuring you’ll never be more than 24 hours away from balance
  • Experience how daily Reiki practice is easier than meditation (with many of the same benefits!), making it more likely that you’ll practice consistently
  • Appreciate how Reiki practice helps you stay calm and centered amidst the uncertainties of life as you learn how to trust yourself to take timely, meaningful action instead of reactively flailing, or sinking into passivity
  • Examine the valuable way spiritual practice differs from a medical intervention — and why the unique support of consistent spiritual practice is irreplaceable and always beneficial, even when medical care is also needed

You’ll begin to release the judgments that limit your innate capacity for self-healing, such as obsessing about what you should be feeling, what should be happening, and how you should be practicing.

You’ll sense a shift in your nervous system as your ability to self-regulate becomes more commonplace and you become more able to embody that deep sense of belonging and spaciousness that exists always within...

... the place where true healing begins, the source of your own resilience.

You’ll feel more trusting of yourself and your intuition in a deeper way, becoming a conscious participant in your life — one who makes life-affirming choices instead of reacting in the moment to whatever comes along.

You’ll also explore the misconceptions and myths surrounding Reiki that were a result of a language barrier and cultural misunderstandings...

... and discover an authentic Japanese translation of the Reiki Precepts.

In this course, you’ll learn to harness the power Reiki practice gives you to restore balance to your whole being — ultimately realigning you with your optimal health and innate capacity for self-healing. Join Pamela on this 9-module training on self-care Reiki practice.

Course Sessions Tuesdays and one Thursday at 5:00pm Pacific

This course will feature LIVE teachings, interactive training sessions, experiential practices, and Q&A with Pamela. Each session will build harmoniously upon the previous ones, so you’ll develop a complete holistic understanding of the practices and principles you’ll need to deepen and invigorate your self-care practice and shift from coping to healing by learning how to modulate your response to pain, suffering, and illness through the power of Reiki.

Modules 1 & 2: Learn Reiki Practice for Effortless, Effective Self-Care (November 29 & December 1)

Establishing a consistent, daily practice of self-treatment is an overlooked and underestimated aspect in Reiki practice.

During these two opening sessions of class, you’ll establish a solid foundation for self-practice, learning the simple, accessible, and effective practice taught by Hawayo Takata, the Reiki master who brought the practice to the U.S. from Japan in the 1930s.

You’ll practice self-Reiki as a group, beginning with a modified 3-placement protocol — useful for when you have limited time to practice — and graduating to a full 8-placement protocol.

You’ll recognize your body’s physiological response to self-practice and notice results and improvement.

Pamela will share why your home practice is so valuable, how it improves your overall wellbeing, and offer logistical tips for your home practice.

This includes how to enjoy your practice by keeping it effortless and uncomplicated, what to do (or not) with your mind, how to pay attention when you want to (without struggling to concentrate or focus)...

... and why there’s really no wrong way to practice self-Reiki, as long as you’re not hurting yourself.

During the first two sessions, you’ll explore:

  • Reiki as a spiritual practice — and the importance of daily self-practice
  • Why Reiki and all spiritual practices aim to restore balance
  • The importance of learning experientially — how to keep it simple and doable, the way we learned as children
  • What your body knows that no expert can — and the difference that can make in your health and wellbeing
  • Why hacking your system may not be such a good idea
  • The healing power of deep sleep
  • How simple, effective daily practice helps ease you out of perfectionism
  • How long you need to hold any particular hand placement
  • What to do when you can’t practice for as long as you feel you need to
  • The differences between an abbreviated practice, full protocol practice, and spot practice
  • Why you don’t need to pay attention when you practice — and what you gain if you choose to

Module 3: Practice Reiki as Spiritual Self-Care Instead of Energy Medicine for Deeper Healing & Empowered Living (December 6)

Reiki is often categorized as energy medicine. While that’s understandable, there’s really more — and less — to Reiki practice than that.

The “more” is that spiritual practice is a larger umbrella than energy medicine, bringing profound benefits that extend far beyond fixing an ailment. The “less” is that Reiki practice is much simpler and more accessible than energy medicine and other spiritual practices, such as meditation.

Additionally, Reiki practice is non-invasive. While energy medicine is not generally invasive, it can be with an unskilled or overzealous practitioner.

Spiritual practices encourage self-healing, allowing for the deepest possible healing, rather than imposing a fixed agenda on the body.

In this module, you’ll learn what differentiates spiritual practice from energy medicine, how the two work best together, and how Reiki interfaces with other spiritual practices and healing techniques.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of what spirituality really is, how it is distinct from metaphysics, and how Reiki practice enables you to quickly access the support of your own spirituality
  • Explore how Reiki practice helps you stay calm and centered amidst the uncertainties of life, taking you from coping to healing
  • Discover how spiritual practice differs from medical intervention
  • Appreciate how daily self-practice builds resilience to help you stay out of overwhelm and meet life’s challenges with poise, confidence, and creativity
  • Understand how Reiki practice can enhance the benefit of any traditional healing, such as acupuncture — and help speed recovery from surgery and mitigate the side effects of needed conventional interventions, such as chemotherapy
  • Learn how Reiki can be practiced in emergencies or during a diagnostic process
  • Understand how Reiki can help even people with auto-immune reactions

Module 4: Organize Your Daily Self-Practice to Fit Your Life & Get the Best Results (December 13)

Daily self-practice is arguably the best kept secret in the Reiki community at large — in part, due to Reiki’s categorization as energy medicine.

Yet daily self-practice is how you gain the greatest benefit from Reiki.

In this module, you’ll explore why daily Reiki practice ensures that you’re no more than 24 hours away from balance.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Discover how daily practice ensures you’ll never be more than 24 hours away from balance — and the difference that the rhythm of self-care makes in your life
  • Learn how appropriate touch supports the body’s natural self-healing ability
  • Explore the basic neuroscience related to the physiological response to Reiki practice
  • Learn how to identify the sympathetic response in your body so you can restore balance sooner and faster
  • Explore what you can do to maintain your daily practice rhythm on days when you don’t have the time for a full 8-placement protocol
  • Discover how to organize a daily Reiki practice that you’ll actually want to practice — and what to do if you forget to practice or miss a day

Module 5: Uncover Reiki Myths & Misconceptions to Enrich Your Practice and Access Healing With Ease & Speed (January 3)

In the late 1930s, first generation Japanese American Hawayo Takata brought Reiki practice to the U.S., with the active support of her Japanese Reiki master, Chujiro Hayashi, who had been trained by Reiki lineage founder Mikao Usui.

The inadvertent Americanization of Reiki practice began the moment Takata spoke about the practice in English. Certain concepts and values that are foundational for understanding Reiki practice simply did not translate with nuance and accuracy from Japanese to English.

In this module, you’ll explore the misconceptions and myths surrounding Reiki that were a result of this language barrier and related cultural misinterpretations...

... as well as how language develops in a culture, and comes to express the values and concerns of that culture.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Discover why so much of the context of Reiki practice was lost in translation
  • Explore the misconception of Reiki energy — and how that’s led to layers of misunderstanding and misinformation
  • Learn the true meaning of the Reiki kanji
  • Discern the differences among the levels of Reiki practice: First Degree, Second Degree, and Reiki Master
  • Understand why hands-on First Degree Reiki practice is all most people need

Module 6: Explore Why Reiki Practice Is Safe, What Medical Research Shows & Why Reiki Self-Practice Eases Your Pain & Anxiety (January 10)

The safety of Reiki practice is a critical concern in hospitals and healthcare settings, to anyone dealing with a medical condition, and for parents of young children.

People whose safety concerns aren’t fully answered might choose to not receive a Reiki session or learn Reiki self-practice.

In this module, Pamela will share how she’s successfully addressed safety concerns in medical environments — hospitals, medical conferences, medical schools, and more — since the 1990s.

She’ll also offer an overview of “medical research 101,” an evidence-based perspective on Reiki, the reasons why we don’t have more good research — and the reasons we are unlikely to have much of it in the near future.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Discover the paradigm of balance, so you have a model for your response to Reiki practice that’s plausible, motivating, and fits your felt experience — no beliefs required
  • Appreciate why Reiki practice helps you feel better, function better, and make better choices, and how much of a difference that makes to your health and wellbeing
  • Understand the safety and effectiveness of Reiki practice in trauma recovery, including surgery, injury, and cardiac events
  • Explore the current state of Reiki research, why there are so few good studies — and why good Reiki research is desirable, but not necessary
  • Appreciate why improvements in pain and anxiety following Reiki treatment are the most documented benefits, including pain associated with cancer and necessary cancer treatment
  • Find out the important difference that Reiki practice can make during any medical treatment

Module 7: Communicate Reiki & Practice on Adults, Children & Pets to Support Healing & Relieve Suffering (January 17)

It is easier to practice Reiki than it is to speak about it credibly — no matter how much experience you have.

In this module, Pamela will share strategies to communicate effectively and clearly about how Reiki is practiced, how Reiki works, and its benefits.

You’ll learn how to ask if a friend or family member would like to experience Reiki practice without seeming to position yourself as an expert, creating expectations you cannot meet.

Pamela will offer practical tips on how to set up a session so both of you feel comfortable, improvise if you don’t have a treatment table, and be mindful of not over-giving or imposing on someone’s privacy.

During this session, you’ll explore:

  • How practicing on others deepens your appreciation of the practice and builds your conviction
  • Why it’s important to be comfortable with not having all the answers before practicing on others
  • The best way to start practicing on other people
  • How to approach or ask a friend or family member if they’d like a Reiki session
  • How to avoid the Reiki expert trap — and why you don’t have to be an expert to practice informally and effectively on family, friends, and pets
  • How to practice on children and pets — and why this is a unique experience, including why it’s not important to go through the full protocol

Module 8: View Today’s Reiki Practice in an Historical Context to Gauge the Authenticity & Credibility of a Reiki Professional or Teacher for Confidence in Your Practice (January 24)

Given there are no agreed-upon standards for Reiki practice, Reiki certificates really don’t tell us anything. Some Reiki masters have less training and experience than some First Degree students.

In this module, you’ll explore what authenticity means in Reiki practice and whether it matters, how to tell what Reiki history has been documented and what has been fabricated, the difference between a teaching story and historical fact, and how to assess the credibility of a Reiki professional or teacher.

You’ll come to appreciate what you can learn in classes, and what you can learn only through practice — so that you don’t get caught up in chasing unnecessary certifications.

If you elect to continue your learning, how can you choose what is reliable and meaningful to you from among the widely differing versions of Reiki practice offered in the marketplace?

Pamela will answer these questions — and more.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Examine the relevance of authenticity in Reiki practice
  • Be introduced to how Reiki has been objectified — and the repercussions of that
  • Realize what initiation is and how it helps
  • Gain an understanding of what Reiki lineage can and cannot tell you — including why having multiple lineages might not confer any advantage
  • Discover why we know so little about how Reiki founder Mikao Usui practiced and the implications of that
  • Explore what it really means to be Reiki certified — and the limits of its relevance for self-practice
  • Learn how to gauge the credibility of a Reiki professional or teacher — and how to decide whether or not they’re a good fit for you

Module 9: Deepen Your Self-Practice With Authentic Reiki Precepts to Uplift Your Self-Talk & Make Better Decisions (January 31)

Reiki lineage founder Mikao Usui gave his students the Reiki Precepts, also referred to as the Reiki Principles, encouraging his students to recite them as part of their Reiki practice.

You may choose to learn the precepts in Japanese, English, or your native language — but it’s important to appreciate that many translations of the precepts were made by people who don’t speak or read Japanese and may not have understood the original intent.

In this module, you’ll learn how every Reiki student and practitioner benefits by developing a relationship with the precepts. You’ll explore the difference the translation you choose makes...

... and begin to mine the jewels hidden in these simple, accessible precepts that you can contemplate during self-practice, or while walking down the street.

During the final module of class, you’ll:

  • Explore an authentic Japanese translation of the Reiki Precepts
  • Understand why the precepts are not additional commandments
  • Discuss each Reiki Precept — and how it can help you out of a mind jam into taking meaningful, timely action
  • Appreciate how the Reiki Precepts can help with decision-making
  • Learn how to engage the precepts to uplift your self-talk

“After Reiki, I know peace...”

My life can be divided into “before Reiki” and “after Reiki.” Before Reiki, I was consumed with anxiety, unable to experience joy, unable to meditate, so unable to cope with the stresses of work that I was always about to quit, unable to even be in the same room with my mother. After Reiki, I know peace, I can cope with whatever problems come up at work, I meditate with gusto, and I was able to nurse my mother for the last six weeks of her life with love and devotion. I depend on my early morning sessions of Reiki to center myself for the day, and I meditate with Pamela’s CD. Just the sound of her voice draws me into a deep meditative state. I am now prepared for the next 35 years of my life to be full of joy, peace, and deep and abiding happiness. Reiki will be part of my life for as long as I live.
— Andrea Stillman

“Thank you for helping me better connect with others where they are and for helping me experience more clarity in my practice.”

I resonate with Pamela’s down-to-earth explanation of Reiki as a spiritual practice. Thank you for helping me better connect with others where they are and for helping me experience more clarity in my practice. I’ll never be the same.
— Arletha Garcia-Guzman

“I noticed the shift in my inner state on the very first day...”

Pamela teaches you everything you need to know to start practicing, to continue to practice, and to expand the state cultivated and nurtured during practice into all moments in between. I noticed the shift in my inner state on the very first day, a shift that I'd never experienced with all other practices I'd learned and done in the past five years. Experiencing how Pamela teaches made me become more willing to be patient with myself — this practice is going to be with me on my whole journey going forward. I'm not in a hurry to get to any certain destination to deem myself or the practice a “success”; rather, I'm just deeply curious to see where it will take me if I stay with it, all aligned with what I truly am already. So I'd say, drop all assumptions and expectations and take this class. Just show up with presence and be open to it.
— Kuan Kuan Zhang
